Principal Engineer - Traffic & Transport Infrastructure

Are you a proven leader with experience in asset management and a passion for engineering and road infrastructure? We have an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled Principal Engineer to lead a team of professionals in the effective delivery of Council’s traffic and transport infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a similar role with proven solid experience and working knowledge of investigation, design, policy and maintenance of civil infrastructure and traffic and transport infrastructure.
This role will also be required to:
- Provide high level engineering advice and manage Council’s traffic and transport infrastructure, including strategy and policy, infrastructure planning, project initiation, cost management and program management for traffic and transport, and network management;
- Provide effective leadership to the Traffic and Transport Infrastructure team including; reviewing performance, identifying training requirements, providing technical guidance, facilitating the development of team goals and priorities, providing mentoring to staff and fostering a constructive and customer focused team environment;
- Provide asset management including keeping inventory, mapping, condition assessment, Asset Management Plans with maintenance planning, long term resourcing, annual financial reporting and facilitation or participation in Council’s internal Asset Management Steering Group;
- Manage the attraction and administration of Natural Disaster Relief and provide Safety and Risk Management Plans to facilitate public safety, flood safety and emergency planning and response; and
- Manage high quality communication and community engagement, stakeholder education and awareness, and public information and notification regarding Council’s IP&R Framework, AM Steering Group, Capital Works Program Control Group, and Committees.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications at a degree minimum or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or other relevant discipline that reflects the key accountabilities of the position;
- Extensive experience in a similar role with proven solid experience and working knowledge of design, investigation and maintenance of civil infrastructure;
- Demonstrated sound experience in the development of strategies and policies related to the management of civil infrastructure and working knowledge of Asset Management principles, reporting, functions and practices; and
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external, and write complex reports.
Remuneration and Benefits:
- $101,783 - $117,050 per annum
- 10.5% superannuation
