About the opportunity

Council is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated student currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering, preferably in Civil or Environmental disciplines. This temporary two-year contract is a part-time role (14 hours per week), ideal for someone looking to gain practical experience while continuing their studies. The successful applicant will be supported in balancing work and study, with assistance available towards university tuition fees.

As an Undergraduate Engineer, you will play an active role in supporting experienced senior engineers across the full engineering lifecycle. You’ll contribute to the delivery of key projects and have the chance to work across multiple business units, applying your academic knowledge in a real-world context. This role provides a valuable opportunity to build professional skills, expand your engineering experience, and launch your career in a supportive and dynamic environment.

 About you

To be successful in this position, you must:

  • Be enrolled in and currently studying a Bachelor degree qualification in Civil Engineering or other relevant equivalent degree qualification, with eligibility for acceptance to Engineers Australia upon completion;
  • Be currently studying and have successfully completed a minimum two (2) years, or equivalent, in the above mentioned degree and satisfactory academic achievement in your current undergraduate studies;
  • Be able to demonstrate well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to multi-task and prioritise work within an environment of competing demands;
  • Have Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel); and
  • Hold a current Class C unrestricted drivers licence.

Remuneration

Salary as per the Local Government (State) Award plus 12% superannuation
