About the opportunity
Are you a passionate Civil Engineering student ready to kick-start your career? Council is offering an outstanding opportunity for a motivated individual currently studying a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering to join our team on a two-year, part-time contract (14 hours per week). This is your chance to gain hands-on experience, apply your university learning in the real world, and receive support towards your tuition fees, all while working with a team that’s committed to your growth.
As part of our Development Services team, you’ll be involved in real development and subdivision projects, contributing meaningful engineering input from day one. You’ll collaborate with experienced professionals, develop technical skills, and gain valuable exposure to the workings of local government. If you're ready to bring a positive attitude, strong judgement, and a willingness to learn, this role offers an exciting launchpad into your engineering career.
About you
To be successful in this position, you must:
- Be enrolled in and currently studying a Bachelor degree qualification in Civil Engineering or other relevant degree qualification, with eligibility for acceptance to Engineers Australia upon completion;
- Be currently studying and have successfully completed a minimum two (2) years, or equivalent, in the above mentioned degree and satisfactory academic achievement in your current undergraduate studies;
- Be able to demonstrate well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to multi-task and prioritise work within an environment of competing demands;
- Have strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel); and
- Hold a current Class C unrestricted drivers licence.

Remuneration
Salary as per the Local Government (State) Award plus 12% superannuation
