Stormwater Engineer

About the Opportunity

Shape the future of stormwater and flood management across the Cessnock Local Government Area.

We’re looking for an experienced Stormwater Engineer to bring their technical expertise to a varied role spanning floodplain management, stormwater drainage, infrastructure asset management and Capital Works. You’ll work across planning, project delivery and infrastructure management, providing technical advice and supporting special projects across the LGA.

As the Stormwater Engineer you will:

• Provide technical input in reviewing NHVR applications, considering the condition, load capacity and structural limitations of Council bridges and major culverts.
• Review and prioritise the Bridge Replacement Program in accordance with Council’s Bridge Asset Management Plan.
• Lead floodplain management, flood mitigation and stormwater planning, including flood studies, floodplain risk management plans, drainage network planning and flood certificates.
• Manage Council’s bridge, dam, stormwater and flood infrastructure assets, including asset inspections, reporting, asset registers, condition data, GIS information and asset management systems.
• Plan and manage Capital Works Programs, including project investigation, scoping, cost estimating, budgeting, prioritisation, scheduling and delivery.
• Provide engineering advice across environmental infrastructure, development referrals, flood safety and risk management, while working with internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage consultants, procurement and contract processes, and contribute to grant funding opportunities for infrastructure projects.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a relevant equivalent qualification, together with extensive relevant experience.
• Experience in a similar role, with strong knowledge of the design, investigation and maintenance of stormwater infrastructure.
• Experience implementing strategies and policies relating to environmental infrastructure.
• Strong project management experience in the planning, scoping and scheduling of civil infrastructure, including cost estimating and Capital Works budgeting.

Remuneration

$103,063 - $118,523 per annum plus superannuation, a leaseback vehicle and 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance.
